"I used to play with this boy, ride horses, down close to where I was born," he says. "Then when we were 13, his parents made us stop. They used to say you had black blood or white blood, but we'd get a flashligh and hold it up to our skin and we'd just see red blood. That's what I mean by 'Skin Deep.'"

Bullet For My Valentine Announces Summer Headlining Tour

Los Angeles, CA - May 27, 2008 -- Bullet For My Valentine, one of the most notable metal exports to come from the United Kingdom in the last few years, will kick off their 2008 headlining tour on Tuesday, July 14 at the Rave in Milwaukee, WI. The dates are in support of the band's latest album Scream Aim Fire (20-20/Jive/Zomba) which debuted at #4 in the U.S. and simultaneously in the Top 5 in the UK, Australia, Germany and Japan.

Sponsored by the No Fear clothing company, the first leg of Bullet For My Valentine's North American tour will run to mid-August (dates below); the second leg will run throughout September, dates to be announced shortly. Joining Bullet For My Valentine for the tour will be Bleeding Through and on select dates, Cancer Bats and Black Tide. A "fan club presale" begins tomorrow, Wednesday, May 28 - log onto Ticketmaster.com for more info, while tickets go on sale to the general public the following weekend.

Hailing from Bridgend, Wales and armed with a sound that merges slamming vintage thrash metal (a la Metallica), tricky song structures (a la Iron Maiden), and simply roaring vocals (a la Pantera), the Bullet For My Valentine lads have all the bases covered. The quartet - which includes members Matthew Tuck (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Michael "Padge" Paget (lead guitar, vocals), Jason "Jay" James (bass, vocals), and Michael "Moose" Thomas (drums) - originally formed in 1998 and began building a name for themselves on the strength of their 2005 full-length debut, "The Poison," which has sold north of one-million copies worldwide - more than 400,000 copies in the U.S. alone. The album's supporting tour saw the group travel the world and play alongside some of metal's most renowned names, including opening mammoth shows back home for the likes of Guns N' Roses and Metallica, and touring the U.S. as part of the Warped Tour.

But it's on their latest release that it has truly all come together for the group. Debuting at #4 on the Billboard charts, "Scream Aim Fire" has been heralded as one of the year's top metal releases, while the album's title track has received heavy attention on both Fuse and Headbanger's Ball. According to frontman Matt Tuck, the group's sophomore full-length is "really melodic heavy metal..catchy, hooky choruses and full-on vocals, with the music being very in-your-face and heavy...it's a lot more uptempo [than 'The Poison'], a lot more aggressive."

Additionally, it's the rave reviews that Bullet For My Valentine is receiving on their recent tours that is showing incredible growth and maturity for the band. Case in point, a recent Australian tour resulted in the following praise from the Daily XPress in Perth - "Years from now, this gig will still be remembered by those who were there as one of the most insane and off the hook nights of their lives. It will take something special to top this night."

Jive Records Statement Regarding UGK's Pimp C

It is with great sadness that Jive Records announces the passing of Chad "Pimp C" Butler, a member of the celebrated rap duo UGK (Underground Kingz). Jive Records' President and CEO Barry Weiss states: "We mourn the unexpected loss of Chad. He was truly a thoughtful and kind-hearted person. He will be remembered for his talent and profound influence as a pioneer in bringing southern rap to the forefront. He will be missed and our prayers remain with his family and Bun B. I've known Chad since he was 18, and we loved him dearly and he was a cherished member of the Jive family."

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, Butler's father was a trumpet player who played professionally with Solomon Burke. Outside of his father, the 33-year old rapper's influences varied, ranging from Bobby Bland, Jimmy McGriff, the 1960's Motown artists to Run DMC. Butler met his inseparable partner Bernard "Bun B" Freeman in high school where they formed UGK. In 1992, the duo signed to Jive Records and went on release a total of eight albums for the label. They earned their highest achievement earlier this year when their most recent album, UGK (Underground Kingz), debuted in the number one position on the album pop chart. According to the New York Times, UGK "helped inspire a generation of Southern hip-hop stars, from OutKast to Lil Wayne."

Bun B is not available for comment at this time.

Moved by the terrible events at Virginia Tech, R. Kelly has written and recorded a song of encouragement in memory of the victims and in condolence to their families. As the details of the tragedy were unfolding, Kelly was traveling across the country on his tour bus for a performance. Deeply affected by the news, he was inspired to write lyrics he shaped into a song entitled, “Rise Up,” a moving anthem in honor and remembrance of the victims of this heartbreaking event.

You can support this cause by purchasing the digital single starting on Tuesday, May 15th to help spread the message of hope and unity. R. Kelly and Jive will donate 100% of the net proceeds from the digital single sales to the university’s official fund, The Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, and listeners who buy the track will be able to access a direct link to the memorial website. Recalling the spirit of triumph in one of Kelly’s previous celebrated anthems, “I Believe I Can Fly,” “Rise Up” is meant to offer encouragement and solace in the face of this senseless tragedy; “…We’ll be strong together, Stand together, Pray together, Rise up.”

BUY IT NOW
iTunes
Napster
Real

Listen to a snippet of "Rise Up" and read his moving lyrics on R.
